    "given that Superman's creators were Jewish." I will note that the Messianic tradition in Judaism predates Christ by a lot. It even predates the Jews.

    Not to get into a theology/history thing here, but sure- messianic traditions go way back and show up in a variety of cultures. But there's a specific set of iconography associated with Christ which is wildly different than Judaic traditions. There's 2000 years of Christian tradition which is definitely its own thing.

    True, but the most well-known aspects of Christianity's idea of a Messiah (son of God, died for everyone's sins, coming back from the dead) are not part of Judaism's definition. "Messiah" is just the Hebrew word for "anointed", and it originally just meant the restoration of the monarchy. Later traditions added the "perfect world" stuff, but it still didn't have the same kind of supernatural aspects of the person himself.
