You can just imagine the kind of horrible code that could produce such a result, something like an array index, where the leap day has been retroactively added on the end to fix a bug, because they can't put it in the right place without breaking everything else...

    The quantum aluminium thing looks a lot like those thermometers I can buy for two euros in any ordinary pharmacie round here. You know, the ones that have a battery that costs four euros to buy at retail and can only be bought in specialist battery shops (LR43 or some such nonsense).

    That makes those claims seem somewhat ... extravagant.

    (Perhaps TRTRWTF is that they provided seven photos of it, all the same.)

    That is why you should always write your own date handling code, so your customers will not be bothered by such trivial errors from library code. Or was it the other way round? I always get my dates wrong.

    I checked out the cat link (I know portuguese). I understand why google translate went with "puppy". The portuguese word is "filhote", which is the same word for both baby cats and baby dogs (any animal baby in fact). I don't think google translate takes into account the whole page context to decide the correct translation.

    1. GT needs to analyze the picture to translate correctly. So if we're starting to get cat and dog pictures in reCAPTCHA now, we know why. Actually, this would be very nice! Keep Google-translating such pages! (Not yet ... just busses this time ...)

    March 1 was the start of the new year for a very long time. And yes, Feb 29 was the last day of the year at the time when leap years were invented, where else would you put an extra day?

    I don't speak a word of Portuguese but that was my first guess anyway. When the translator messes up that badly one should immediately suspect that it's a case of one word in the source language translating to different words in the target language.

    Because of the quantum aluminum , the Portuguese cat, like Schrodinger's Cat, is in a quantum state of being both alive and dead simultaneously, and therefore is either in stock or out of stock as far as being adoptable at this time.

    At least in Finnish the words kitten and puppy (as well as many other animals' children) are translated using the same word. It's probably the same case in Portuguese so translating from that language isn't so straight forward when concerning young animals.

    What strikes me most is that the cat was Reduced in February 2020.. Did it get smaller by itself, or was some sort of quantum gadget involved?
