You're probably right but you won't know if you don't ask. And let's face it, it's open to abuses like Zalgotext and other creative shit (I once played a multiplayer space combat game where someone suggested naming ships with (possibly-random) strings of ` and ' to make life hard for opponents.)

Interesting. Doesn't work for me (Edge). I know that some applications (MSN Messenger before it was replaced with Skype) used to let you type Ctrl-, a to get accented characters, although it didn't know all of them.
