whatis this "No Debb" next to my name?

  • IExist (unregistered)

I had about written off TDWTF.

Glad to see them reverting to sanity.

    Yay, no more discourse.

  • (nodebb)

I miss a few of Discourse's features though ... several, actually.

Debb is one of the nicknames of the current forum software. Like Disk Horse for the previous forum software.

(Nothing to do with https://nodebb.org/ )

Next bug request: In case of failed login, differentiate between non-existent username and existent username combined with wrong passwort.

    E. g. if the username is wrong, show "user N. N. doesn't exist on this forum" on the top of the login screen if the username is not found in the forum database.

Reply button seems to be broken. Nothing happens when I click.

  • Julian Radowsky (google)

The reply mechanism is for want of a better phrase, a total WTF.

The font looks ugly the way it is right now. As if it is just a tad bit too big. Also, the spacing between the lines is too big as well. Like it's 1 1/2 lines on each line break.

so the dwtf got rid of one of its' wtf's. much appreciated. thanks

  • Lurch (unregistered) in reply to PWolff

    No it shouldn't.

  • Lurch (unregistered) in reply to Peter_Wolff

    No it shouldn't.

There definitely should be some indication that you've hit a Reply button. I hit THREE just now, and I have no idea which comment this will come up "in reply to". That would be nice.

I TOTALLY appreciate the lack of 48GB of JS per page -- but you might want to introduce a little just to take care of silly things like the reply button. I, personally, would be happy with a little function that changes the background from grey to something else, as this is about as light as you can get. As long as we have that, no need to change the actual reply box to say "in reply to" with some identification of the comment.

The first "paragraph" of the articles isn't actually marked up as a paragraph, and as such is inheriting a line-height of 1 from the <body> element. That's a really awful figure to default to, should be 1.5 and adjust from there based on the typeface.

  • Chris (unregistered) in reply to Chris

Previous comment should read "from the <body> element".

Why, because it leaks registered user's usernames to unregistered users? We're already doing one better:

Anyway, how can you avoid it? Even if you don't leak it in the login page, or show the user's profile, your registration page will still have to somehow get new users to choose a different username if they enter one that's already in use.

NodeBB is nigh unusable with the slide out drawer. I can't scroll on mobile without it activating and shaking the entire screen. And I'm constantly getting session popups that fill the entire screen.

Ironically Discourse with JS off is better than both NodeBB on either setting. With JS off I can't even get past the first page on NodeBB, just completely broken.

Our long daily nightmare is over

    I'll give you that then.

  • Jeff Shitwood (unregistered)

You shouldn't have used Shitcourse in the first place.

  • B Rumm (google)

I hate fixed headers. They take up vertical space, which is precious on lower-res netbooks. And you made it non-optional, like everyone else. Remove it.

I'd almost got used to Discurse; so much that I actually miss the notifications and likes.
