Presumably, whatever process they had to generate the text that was going to be printed on the bag was driven by some sort of SQL database. This makes perfect sense.

As for a statement about 'equipment', I think it was probably a warning about whether this was made with equipment that also processes peanut products, or something like that.

The number equals 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFDA0 in hex, or -608 (I think?) when interpreted as a signed twos complement 64-bit number instead of an unsigned one.

Still, a negative number of real pages?

A Pop-Up Potpourri and it's not even Friday?!

I'm not complaining. I love these things. Thanks for making them more frequent, Alex :D

Addendum (2007-01-18 11:23): Regarding the raisins WTF, that's probably the funniest one I've ever seen -- actually making it into the real world in a form other than a messed-up computer readout or web site misprint. Classic. It's my wallpaper for now.

The irony in this last message (sent in by John) is that it was received via interoffice mail and is a photocopy of a fax of a printed screenshot. The "Send Report" manages to do the same thing, though a bit more efficiently ...
They did it wrong! You're supposed to take a photo of the screen, take the film to get it developed, THEN photocopy it! C'mon now!!!

Insert a wooden table at the appropriate step as well for better results lol...

With the prevalence of peanut (and other) allergies, these are becoming much more common, at least here in the States.

My favorite was the frozen entreé of "Thai-style Peanut Chicken (in Peanut Sauce)" ... Which included the warning that it was produced on machines that "also process peanuts".

I'll have to find another one of those, put it on a wooden table, photograph it, and submit it as a sidebar...

What I also like about the MozillaWiki is the break-down of the user-to-admin ratio :o)

    currently:

"There are 15,755 registered users, of which 31 (or 0.20%) are administrators"

I mean, who really cares how many percent of the users are administrators? Or is it some kind of competition?

"yo, check this, nearly 0.2 out of one hundred users are admins!"

    That's about one leg I'd think... ;o)

Also, given that 18,446,744,073,709,551,053 pages are online and there were 13,256,197 page views, only one page in 1.391.556.271.659 (or about one in 1.3 trillion) pages has ever been viewed. SO much left to read....

captcha: doom (with matching background colours.... ;o)

What the fuck? That's not from World of Warcraft.

I don't know why you would say it is! All of WoW's EULA's appear in-game only with their custom GUI.

I guess you make these up and ignore legitimate submissions. Why? And don't tell me this was to anonymize the submission, because you used another company and made them look bad instead, potentially incurring a lawsuit.

Why pass up true stories for fake ones, when the truth is more entertaining, when your viewers come here falsely believing they'll see the real deal, and when they submit content hoping to share it with others?

    Wrong, mister Fly-off-the-handle-and-start-making-up-shit-yourself-too.

I get that EULA corruption every time i reinstall / upgrade WoW. It happens when you run world of warcraft in wine (or winex, or cedega, or whatever you want to call it.) on a linux machine.

You obviously have an axe to grind, but don't make up your own facts. This is a legitimate pop-up.

Truely one of those wonko the sane moments.

Of course one of my favorite is the mixed nuts container, which as the obligatory warning, but also as a bit of marketing: "Contains less than 50% peanuts" ... Yeah, I think something like 49% peanuts. Makes the claim nice and legal, but still skimps on the good stuff.

I keep kosher, so I'm always checking the ingredients for things that are vegetarian to see what's disqualifying them (usually gelatin or something). There's a Thai curry mix that goes on and on about how it's MEAT FREE! and VEGETARIANS OK! I look at the ingredients and the first one is lard, the second one is chicken fat. I guess if it's all dissolved it doesn't count as meat.

I don't know, it's usually just a small interesting factoid. In some wikis, it's considered a metric of how many admins are needed. en.wikipedia.org has 3,283,740 users and 1,090 admins, which works out to roughly 1 admin per 3000 users, and we're so far doing pretty much fine... I think someone was doing some comparisons based on that data.

For the love of god, when did people start confusing "irony" with "coincidence"? Irony is founded on opposites. Typing something like "acrobatic" next to a disabled icon would be (vaguely) ironic. "Retard" would not.

It's far more likely that each line of text is manually indented with spaces, instead of being centered by some word processing or typesetting software.
