TRRWTF is that USAians, instead of using the logical dmy or the logical and easy-to-sort-by ymd, use the completely random mixture of mdy. Is it most significant order or reverse most significant order? Neither! Maybe it's "metric".

I wish more people to be informed that a standard actually exists,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601, and it's quite sane.

Why not decimalise it? Then you don't need any of those pesky hours, minutes and seconds!

TRWTF is when Explorer crashes for no apparent reason.
There's always a reason. Check the event log.
    Borken:
TRWTF is taking 20 minutes to start up and then still busy doing something that doesn't show up in the Task Manager but pre-empts any prompt use of programs.
Because every other OS always boots in 3 seconds and never has stuck services/daemons...

TRWTF is requiring internet connectivity to view help files.
I actually just looked at help for my new win 7 system, and there is indeed a nice little button at the bottom of the window that gives me the option to select offline help.

    TRWTF is disk defrag.
What? Arranging files so all their allocated chains are in nice easy to read succession... Again what's wrong with defrag?

TRWTF is the blue screen of death when I plug in a mouse.
Sounds like you've got a corrupt system file. Had a Kernel panic the other day doing something similar. No one's perfect.
    Borken:
TRWTF is releasing a version where the firewall was disabled by default.
I prefer it this way, and most people getting internet these days are putting in wireless routers that act as a hardware firewall. Hell where I work it's network policy to have windows firewall disabled.
    Borken:
TRWTF is running everything as an Administrator
From XP on you can easily create limited user accounts and use runas to access admin privilege.

TRWTF is leaving back doors to the operating system open and not thinking anyone will find them.
Google "sock_sendpage". As seen here on TDWTF there are no perfect programmers. We all do stupid things. Even with tons of people looking at the Linux kernel still somehow "sock_sendpage" stayed under the radar for quite a while.
    Borken:
TRWTF is that anyone anywhere dares to use Windows on any computer.
Forget the fact that most Fortune 500 companies use Windows for day-to-day operations, forget that the US Federal Government uses Windows almost Exclusively, Forget that Windows is 100% easier to configure and install, and that there's more software available for it.

It's this kind of technological evangelism that kills me. There is no one tool for the job. Some OSes do certain things better than others.

But, when all you know how to use is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

(Some explanation for the hammer and nail analogy in case it's not clear to the non English speakers here: All software is a tool. We use tools to accomplish tasks faster and easier than without the tools. (Ever have to drive a nail with a rock?) But if you only know one tool, you think everything can be done with it.)

Gaaak. This now reminds me of ihatelotusnotes.com

The "discussions" there typically follow this path: A-Notes sucks because of behavior XXXX.

B-It does not suck because Outlook has behavior YYYY.

It also reminds me of every Ford/Chevy debate I heard from the motorheads in high school.

As for availability of quality software...that's never stopped Mac users.

I take it you've never needed to run iTunes..

He said quality software, not a 100+meg behemoth that installs a bunch of unneeded daemons, eats too much memory and whose primary reason for existence (putting music onto your Apple-brand media player) is done much better by some random bit of shareware a tenth of its size.

That's fantastic! I didn't know you were allowed to make your own Windows distro. Would you mind publishing it so we can all benefit from your work?

At least shirts do logically come in male and female. In case you hadn't noticed, we are shaped differently.

I was in an office supply store the other day and they had a sign that said "Pens for Men" and "Pens for Women". That would had me puzzled. I was in a hurry at the time and didn't have a chance to stop and check how they were actually different.

Men's pens write whatever the men actually write.

Women's pens write what the women were actually THINKING (or "feeling"). Also, they spring a leak every 28 days or so.

Another thought: What kind of store were you in? Maybe that was a typo and the signs should have read "Penis for Men" and "Penis for Women".

We used to do that at a shirt factory where I worked. Moving the buttonholes is hard!

I have encountered species of shirt whose differentiation into male/female occurs significantly later into its gestation, in which there are buttonholes on each side (although they are rudimentary, unopened ones on the same side as where the buttons have developed). This should make application of the gender change request significantly more streamlined, as there would then be no need to add the stitching round the new buttonholes.
