    More seriously if that's the phone app I think it is (OSMAndroid) it requires enough space to download a ZIP and then also unzip it. I filed a bug report about the 'GB Europe' download failing silently which turned out to be due to this. The shown error may be their response to this.

    Someone doesn't know their bytes from their bits. Granted, in a 8bit/byte world, I'm not sure what .4 bytes would be... Rounded, maybe? so it is 448685670 bytes and 3 bits.

    For the last, i don't see what's wrong with having files of several terabyte in a 500GB or 1TB hard disk. That's called sparse files and it's really the most sane way to handle files with holes in it (bittorent-like).

    As people have alluded to, TRWTF is trying to use binary floating-point to represent 427.9 exactly, when it is probably using 427.90000000000003410605131648480892181396484375 instead, which is 7527696408405607/17592186044416. (Of course, the .9 was itself probably rounded in the first place...)
