UPDATE: aaaannd once again, it turns out I'm (err, the code I wrote) is TRWTF and once again null'd the article on publishing. And guess who didn't store the original. A common misconception. Null is not Nothing (unless you're programming in VB.net). Null is undefined. It means we don't know what the value is.

Null is "nothing" at least it is so in SQL and C/C++/C#/Java "Undefined" means that something can be defined (some memory has already been allocated) null means that the value isn't even undefined, it just doesn't exist

In C/C++ it is quite clearly defined what NULL (even if it doesn't exist as a keyword) is, and it certainly exists. It is in fact, Nothing as the OP said (/0, 0x00 - however we express it). NULL points to a specific memory location that is known to be nothing.
When you say "doesn't exist" you seem to mean "uninitialised", but I disagree there too.

I would imagine Jave and C# have similar implementations. SQL has at least 2 nulls, so you might need to clarify which you mean to group him in there too....

The real WTF is (fill in any language where it's written in lowercase instead of uppercase like the languages that Real Men program in).
Also, "Careline" is not a WTF. It's obviously something that resolves to "care line", I dunno, a phone number for a hospital or something.

I think the fact that such an important line has no phone might be the wtf...
