That the test product has 1500 ratings tells you a lot about Amazon's rating system.

The problem isn't so much that that ATM is out of date... the real problem is that it is able to get that information.

  • Anonymous Guest (unregistered)

That ATM is remarkably up-to-date. I encountered one still running Windows 2000 earlier this year.

Re the ATM. I've been seeing a commercial lately for some anti-virus software called "PC Matic" or some such. In addition to mentioning they're hiring the person talks about all the OSes it works for, going back to (at least) windows 7.

If you're still running Win 7, should anti-virus really be your first priority?

  • Carl Witthoft (google)

Clearly a rounding error. PureSouth and HopScotch got 0.4 votes each, so the display rounds to zero, but the sum 5 + 0.4 +0.4 rounds to 6

TRWTF is 61 open tabs on a mobile browser

  • (nodebb) in reply to Kleyguerth

He single handedly DDOSed their site with 61 tabs. Hence the gibberish output. Does illegal hacking count as a WTF?

Regarding "If you're still running Win 7, should anti-virus really be your first priority?": Microsoft sells support packages for Windows 7 to continue your support for one year to companies. So in that case it is relevant that your anti-virus still supports Windows 7. By the way: As far as I understood they plan to double the price for the continued support each year.

Time machine? Depends on your definition of 'a few'. Or on the number of seconds in a minute. Or the length of individual seconds compared to a minute.

Or there were a few Scotts created, seconds ago. Then it is even more indeterminate how many seconds were involved.

Of course the ATM is connected to the internet--how else is it supposed to talk to the bank to carry out a transaction? An ATM in front of a bank could be hardwired, but the rest can't be.

As for the voting--maybe somebody abstained.

Some ATMs use private phone line connections though I imagine that's less common these days. They have existed and allowed withdrawing money from remotely managed accounts a good deal longer than the internet as we know it has been around. (The realWTF with the poll, assuming it was this year, is that by mid March it was already pretty clear we shouldn't be holding office parties)

  • Kryo (unregistered)

There's always the possibility that the poll allows voting empty or "none", which would affect total count of votes cast but not appear on any of the poll options. I don't see a WTF here.

61! The most I've ever had on mobile is 40 or so. Am I an amateur?

PS - 16 comments here, 9 are held for moderation. Is everyone cussing, or is there a new algorithm - any comment using English letters is held.

Microsoft strongly recommends using Windows 10 on a new PC for the latest invasive spyware and user-hostile antifeatures.

It's just for unregistered users (bit of a problem with dick pictures being posted last year sometime?)

That PHP one is just a crappy WordPress plugin using an unquoted letter instead of a string for datetime formatting. The double WTF is that they appear to be calculating a single formatted date string in individual parts that they're concatenating later, instead of just doing it one like it's meant to be (which ironically might have forced them to quote it as a string because PHP would have completely errored out.

    For the poll

Select name, count(*) From votes group by name

    Then

    Select count(*) From votes

If someone placed a vote at the exact right time it would give an extra total.

Regardless of where it is on your priority list, if you're running Windows 7 and it's connected to a network (I don't care if it's a network on the Internet or not) or accepts any kind of removable media, you should be running antivirus software.

To be fair, this is also true if you're running Windows XP or Windows NT on systems that are connected to a network or accept any kind of removable media.

If you're still running Windows ME, 98, 95, 3.12, 3.11, 3.10, 3.1, 3, 2, or, god help you, 1, there's pretty much no hope for you regardless of whether you're on a network or not, so I just have to wish you well and accept the fact it's not going to do you any good.
