I'm still blaming Japan. Although now I'm blaming you too because I clicked the Amazon UK link which means it'll be suggesting things like that to me for weeks.
Admin
Admin
Is that a manual edit or site setting? Please tell me it's a setting!
Admin
Alternative suggestion: "Too Much Time On My Paws"
Admin
/me sits up interested
/me tilts head slightly to one side quizzically
Admin
It's a setting!
No, that's a manual edit. It would be a good idea if that's a message that @PJH could change.
Admin
Admin
What. Thefuck.
Admin
It's one of those "tell the user to open Start
menuScreen to see if they have computer turned on" things.Admin
Oh, that's what it'd take to make you happy with it?
Admin
i'm not unhappy with it. i just don't really care about it.
i'd be happy to get my paws on a pedantry badge. or maybe a touched in the head....
Admin
I think the next whoosh is (over)due.
Admin
custom translations!
would work
Admin
No can do.
Admin
Now people are stealing my tweets and RSS feed reader items.

IMPOSSIBLE! <dick>
Admin
And you moan about people hiding text…
Admin
I didn't hide any text. I jumped through a retarded hoop from the dumbshit developers of this broken forum piece of shit so I could post the word "IMPOSSIBLE!"
Admin
You were saying?
Admin
I was saying:
The confusion seems to stem from you thinking "dick" is text, when it is, in fact, one or more randomly-selected lowercase letters.
Admin
Admin
I don't understand why you're telling me. Is this something else that I should be moderating?
Admin
It's important to remember that the +1 hour thing is quite localized to Western Europe and parts of Africa. Even in Poland, for example, GMT jumps two hours ahead in the summer! And some places don't use daylight savings—in Saskatchewan, it doesn't matter what time of the year it is, GMT is always 6 hours behind. Filed under: the more you know...

Sometimes it's very hard to tell whether Poe's Law is really legallly binding or not, especially on the internet.

Congrats! You have just won the thread. :trophy: [image] :trophy:

There's something off about the center one ...
Admin
Not sure if trolling or Discourse bug...
Should I add "Discourse's law" to Discopedia?
Admin
It should be rendering as I intended now (or, y'know, not). Stupid Preview window...
Proposal: remove preview window rendering, replace it with what your post will look like when it's "baked"? Unpossible?!
Admin
That would be too consistent.
Admin
Possibly.
Seriously, even though there were some hints that they run the same JavaScript code serverside for baking as they do for previews, I wouldn't be 100% confident it runs the same in browser and in Node or whatever they are using. JavaScript being what it is etc. And it would seem that it doesn't.
I'm not that surprised. I had to hack around some templates to get mustache alone rendering the same in JS and php (DOM injection issues, mostly with tables. A bit of a different issue, but stil...), and mustache is extremely easy to parse in comparison. Fuck knows what happens to HTMLDownBBCode after all the sanitizers and shit.
The only real solutions I see are either a proper WYSIWYG, or ditching the preview altogether.
EDIT: Man, today is insane. Can't even form proper sentences. Edits galore!
Admin
:doubletake:
Read that as ClownCode as I initially scanned your post. I guess it would go nicely with the ClownBarf and now ClownSpittle.
Admin
To the Discopædia!
Admin
Admin
Oh, you misunderstood.
Expanded, the sentence should be: "Quick, someone, to the Discopædia, add this definition! I am too lazy to do it myself!"
So we're exactly on the same page :P
Admin
Admin
Well, it matters not. My bidding has been done.
Admin
After the last couple of days, I'm not 100% confident that the two? different baking engines aren't diverging. The preview window just flat out lies to me these days...
:\
Admin
My WAG? A bunch of jQuery hacks to make stuff work consistently on different browsers vs. "pure" JS running on server.
Just a WAG though.
Admin
you mean Ruby, right? discourse runs ruby on the server.
last i checked anyway. if they did JS then i've really got to get into contributing!
Admin
Yes, they are. But I seem to recall asking about rendering engines on the front- and backend and getting an answer that the HTMLDownBBCode is parsed in JS even serverside. My memory might be faulty though, will discosearch later when on better connection.
Admin
Next time you catch it doing that, would you check "Discourse Default" to see if it's something I've broken on "TDWTF Default" or whether it's Discourse itself?
Admin
OK, will try to. It's been one or two isolated incidents, but I think I know at least one incident to look for...

The french will never stop despising anything which is not french!!
That is why their national radio station have a legal quota of french language broadcast & to ‘ell with le musique du pop
The law was imposed in 1994 to protect France from what the government saw as the “Anglo-Saxon cultural invasion” Source http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/12197192/France-drops-legal-quota-on-French-radio-songs-as-DJs-forced-to-play-boring-old-ballads.html and your ami Google
