Clearly the person who wrote the job application program (or at least this particular job application) was not qualified for the job. So they needed to hire someone from outside the company, like somebody who knows at least something about designing and writing computer programs.

I AM running low on consum_simple... how do they know?!?!?

  • doubting_poster (unregistered) in reply to andyn

And in some places there's the dialect of "English, Simplified, Simplified" also known by its alias "English, Neck, Red"

A Computer Science degree could be substituted by having equivalent work experience experience, however.

Why not? A superior specimen of humanity once stated that in Austria they speak Austrian, so logically in the United States they speak United States (or maybe United Statesian).

Who says West Rail Station in Beijing, China isn’t the third-nearest?

In new york you need an license to work in IT?

Just 137km from Quincy, Il, US to Bejing, China? Did you tell Donald?

  • (nodebb) in reply to Feeling lucky

Well, I suppose Quincy is in the People's Democratic Republic of Illinois.

  • WTFGuy (unregistered)

Googling now for [Hertz near Quincy IL] shows they used to have an office at that first address. And the airport is in the right place. So they're batting 0.666 on this one.

If somebody did tell Hertz about this, does anyone doubt the first instinct of the offshore dev tasked to fix this would be to simply reduce the alternatives displayed from 3 to 2?

'This username already exists, is available'? did they die or something?

I think its trying to say that the username "maxp" already exists, but the username "This username already exists." is available. Why it'd suggest that as an alternative name, I don't know.

  • xtal256 (unregistered) in reply to Isikyus

No, it'd probably be something like this: "This username already exists, " + alternativeName + " is available". And alternativeName is a blank string.

"the folks behind Hertz's 'nearest location' algorithm"

That would be Accenture. Lawsuit(s) were announced earlier this year.

We can but wish IT required licenses.

  • markm (unregistered) in reply to Wumpusarama

If the government required IT licenses, they would probably require a test for proficiency ...

    in COBOL.

This new username is great! Thanks for the suggestion, Smartick! I'm glad to know it was available.
